The Kerala State Coir Corporation Ltd is a company, fully owned by the Govt. of Kerala, set up to establish a sustainable market for coir products in the domestic as well as export market. These products are designed and produced by over 4000 small scale producers, in addition to our own manufacturing facilities at Beypore, Kanichukulangara, Alappuzha and Adoor Divisions. These products are made accessible to our valued customers, thanks to our business initiation.
The coir industry of the state is popular across the domestic market for its balanced integration of traditional values and excellent workmanship. We work with a commitment of improving life standards of the workers behind the excellence of coir products.
KSCC is working towards ensuring fair price for coir products, fair wages to coir workers and sizable market for the handmade coir products in India and abroad. Though coir products are manufactured in other states of India as well as other countries, those produced in Kerala has won appreciation in the world market owing to its strengths of unique constructions and designs, thanks to the committed and creative work force.
As per Government policy, KSCC is procuring all handloom mats produced by village artisans at fair price and supplying to majority of exporters. These activities of KSCC eliminate exploitation of coir workers and ensure fair wages to them.
The world is in favor of eco friendly products. Since floor-coverings, Geo-textiles etc. made of coir are bio degradable; they are preferred over products synthetic materials. Coir geo-textiles are well accepted world over, for the protection of land from soil erosion. These technical textiles are most suited for slop protection- road and rail side slopes, protection of river banks, over burden dump protection in mines, re-vegetation in abandoned mines etc. It even promotes vegetation in deserts. Hence it protects our mother earth from other environment polluting products from competitors. Thus our commitment towards preserving the earth greener is appreciated world over.
